Happy New Year and a warm welcome back to Little Acorns Nursery. The children have settled straight back into nursery after Christmas! They were so excited to come back and see their friends and tell us about what they had got up to over the holiday. It was so lovely to hear that they had missed nursery and couldn’t wait to come back. 🙂
We are really excited for our Spring term this year! We will be starting off with a topic on Winter time. We will be settling back in and remembering our nursery routines and rainbow promises / using kind hands and voices and making good choices.
We will also be doing a big topic on Teddy Bears. This will include reading the story as well as going on a Bear Hunt. We will plan a teddy bears picnic as well as other bear fun activities.
Later this term we will be celebrating Chinese New Year and Valentines Day!
Please keep checking see saw for regular updates and key learning you can do at home to support phonics and maths activities we are doing each week in nursery.
Please can children practise recognising their name and writing it in lots of different ways, as this will really support their learning. For example writing your name on the garden path with chalk, or in the sand on a trip to the beach! Please take photo’s if you try this at home so we can see! Thank you.
At Little Acorns we play and learn both indoors and outdoors. Children take part in key worker time, talk time, funky fingers, phonics and number activities each day.
PE sessions take place on a Monday morning and a Thursday afternoon. Show and Tell is on a Friday morning and a Friday afternoon. Mrs O’Sullivan is in on a Thursday afternoon.
All children have been given a blue bag and should bring this to nursery each day. We encourage parents to share special achievements from home and out of school with us by sending things in for show and tell or by making a note in the communication book in your child’s bag. We also send out magic moments, these are sent home each half term. Please just ask us if you need any more.
We keep parents up to date with nursery news through our weekly newsletter. Details of home learning activities will also be on here as well as any special dates for our fun parent and carer sessions. Our newsletter can be accessed using the links at the bottom of this page.
Thank you so much for your continued support,
Miss Jones, Mrs Brady and Mrs Cullen.
