Miss Ward
Welcome to Infant 2. The children have made a wonderful start to the term and I am sure this will continue throughout the year. In class we have children from Reception Year, aged four to five years. We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum and each area of learning and development is taught through planned, purposeful play and through a mix of adult-led and child-initiated activity which includes daily Maths and Literacy. Play is essential for children’s development, building their confidence as they learn to explore, to think about problems, and relate to others. Children learn by leading their own play, and by taking part in play which is guided by adults. PE takes place each Thursday and Friday.
The children now have reading books and will also be learning new sounds and words each day as part of their Phonic sessions. We encourage children to read each night and practice their sounds to support their learning in school. Details of most homework tasks can be found in your child’s homework book.
Don’t forget to take a look at our ‘See-Saw’ app to see the type of work and activities taking place in class. We also keep parents up to date with class news and life through our weekly newsletter. These can be accessed using the links at the bottom of this page and also outline dates for our drop in workshops. We would love to see you there!
