Extra Curricular – School clubs

Extra-Curricular Clubs in Cobbs Brow

At Cobbs Brow School we strongly believe in the value of extracurricular activities. Extra-curricular activities contribute significantly to a child’s overall development, fostering skills, confidence, and a sense of belonging. They create a more enriching and well-rounded educational experience for young learners.

Extra-curricular activities serve several important purposes:

  1. Holistic Development: These activities provide a well-rounded education by nurturing skills beyond the academic curriculum. Students can explore their interests, develop talents, and enhance their personalities.
  2. Social Skills and Confidence: Participation in extracurriculars boosts young people’s confidence to interact socially with others. It extends their social networks and helps them build new skills and abilities. Additionally, these activities offer a space to have fun and relax away from the pressures of school work.
  3. Teamwork and Commitment: Students learn to work as a team, stick to commitments, and manage their time effectively. Whether it’s playing a musical instrument, participating in sports, or engaging in community service, these experiences foster valuable life skills.
  4. Aspiration and Employability: Children who participate in extracurricular activities gain confidence and build social skills—qualities highly sought after by employers. Moreover, they are more likely to aspire to higher education or further learning opportunities.

A wide variety of after school activity clubs run every day from Monday to Friday, and in addition to this, some lunchtime clubs run by teachers also take place. These include: sports, phonics, gardening, art, reading, homework and choir to name a few. Music instrument tuition can also be arranged in school.

We are also in partnership with the ‘Schools Sports Partnership and SHARES (Skelmersdale and UpHolland Association for Raising Education Standards) who both offer additional activities for children. These include football, futsal, netball, athletics, target games, tag rugby, handball, basketball, swimming and multi-skills games. School also participates in leagues for football, hi fives netball, basketball and handball. Our children are encouraged to participate in these activities to enhance general fitness and introduce them to concepts such as team building and social interaction with children from other schools.

This term West Lancs Sports Coaches will be taking several after-school clubs. These are listed on the link below.
